JOSEPH (“JOE”) ISAM BALAT, a native Houstonian, was born November 3, 1978.  He graduated from Trinity University in 2000 with a Bachelors of Arts in History.  He attended St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he was a two-time recipient of the Dean’s Leadership Award.  He returned to Houston to practice law.  Joe’s practice focuses on defending health care providers in wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases.  He also enjoys working on commercial litigation cases, contractual disputes, and representing physicians before the Texas Medical Board.  Joe is admitted to practice law in Texas, as well as in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He is Of Counsel to Lapin & Landa, LLP.

Joe is a member of the Houston Bar Association and currently serves on the Health Law Section’s council.  He is also a member of the State Bar of Texas, Greater Houston Society of Healthcare Risk Management, and Texas Bar Foundation.
